Receiving AND Giving!

Last year, we provided food and clothing to all of our HoPE Center children in India. This year, we armed them with food and clothing for the abandoned poor and crippled elderly people. In this photo, our children are delivering clothing and food to 97 year-old Pannaiyura of Poovanthi Village. Please help us cover the remainder of costs to make this all possible:

Special Significance Of Diwali – Nov. 2, 2013

Diwali is one of the most sacred festivals celebrated by millions of people around the world both young and old. It marks the triumph of good over evil; of light over dark. People celebrate Diwali just like how Christmas is celebrated in other parts of the world. On Diwali, it is a time honoured tradition to wear new clothes to symbolise starting anew.

However, on this joyous day, thousands of the forgotten poor across India can never dream of a new set of clothes (costing as little as US$5).

Take for example, Mrs Jayammal, a 70 year old widow whose children abandoned her. Mrs Jayammal lives in a mud hut, is blind in one eye, and despite her age, has to work as a day labourer earning 60 rupees (US$0.97) a day just to survive.

As work is not regular, Mrs Jayammal barely has enough to money to feed herself, let alone dream of buying a new saree for Diwali. A simple saree costs 300 rupees (US$5) but this is money which Mrs Jayammal does not have.

In our feeding and educating the poor children throughout India each day, we have come across many similar heart-wrenching stories of elderly men and women struggling such as Mrs Jayammal to survive each day.

That is why for this Diwali (2 November 2013), besides all our 2,900 HoPE Center children, we want to give 200 elderly poor people a joyous Diwali and we are asking for your help to make a difference in their lives.

This Diwali, besides a nice hot meal, we want to give the gift of a new set of clothes to 3100 young and old poor people that we serve in and around in our 83 HoPE Centers across India.

Diwali Gift Pack

It doesn’t take much to give a Diwali gift of love and compassion. With just as little of US$10, you can sponsor a Diwali gift package, which consists of 1. Two festive hot meals for two people, 2.a saree or shirt and dhoti for an adult 3. a beautiful new outfit for a girl or boy.

New Shoes and Clothes Give Self Esteem and Confidence to Children

We have big plans for the greatest day of the year for our HoPE children…

Diwali is The Festival of Lights and also a holiday on the level of Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza, etc. Join this year’s celebration by helping us give gifts of beautiful new clothes, school bags, talent shows and fun prizes at all of our 44 HoPE Learning Centers.

Holiday Charity Drive Goals:

1)    To give all HoPE Center children and their families the greatest Diwali celebration ever

2)    To provide beautiful new clothes and school bags to 1,540 children in 44 HoPE Learning Centers

3)    To fill all of these children with HoPE and Light to last all year long and beyond

We Need YOUR Help:

Bringing Light and HoPE to so many children is not an easy feat.

We need to raise $30,000 to cover the costs of feasts and gifts for all of the children and families – 1540 in total!

Even if you are a monthly sponsor, please contribute an additional one-time generous gift for this holiday:

A Genuine Diwali Santa Claus

Diwali Santa Claus, Jiccky

Jiccky is a true HoPE Hero. He is a great role model of a successful businessman who works hard to share prosperity with the poorest people. He is one of the first sponsors of HoPE Centers and is interested in every aspect of the children’s transformation.  Gifted with authentic passion to help the rural poor learn how to live fulfilling and empowered lives, he has many plans of how he would like to personally get involved in community initiatives.  Yet, while he is extremely busy directing his enterprise, Jiccky generously sponsors 7 HoPE Learning Centers and is going to buy Diwali gifts for all 245 children that attend his Centers.  TF and the children thank you, Jiccky!

Light the Way for New Beginnings

The Triumph of Light

In October we dressed up for Halloween and celebrated by opening our doors and giving to children. In India, families from all corners of the country gathered for Diwali – the Festival of Lights. These holidays remind us how much happiness, love and generosity fill our lives when we give to others.

As November begins, we prepare for a feast of Thanksgiving and reflect on the people who brighten up our lives each day. Honor the gifts of light and make a donation for the triumph of HoPE over the darkness of poverty.

Happiness Quotient

What are the simple things in your day that bring you joy?

Perhaps it is the delight of sipping a cup of coffee each morning?

Or it could be using your favorite smartphone apps during your commute?

Or maybe it is the simple pleasure of going to the movies?

Make the Little Things Count

In a time when our lives can be inundated with stress and discord in the world, these small moments of happiness are essential.  The greatest value of this joy is that it can be shared with those who need our help the most. By simply matching the cost of a small pleasure in your day, you can extend this joy to a child or family trying to overcome the perils of poverty.

$10 donation = 1 month for 1 child at a HoPE Learning Center

[That’s just a small coffee a day!]

$20 donation = 1 month of nutritious snacks for 10 children

[That’s a night at the movies]

$30 donation = 30 sleeping mats for the destitute or elderly

[That’s a sushi lunch!]

Even Small Actions can have a Big Impact!

A Ripple Effect

Our mission to bring HoPE into communities suffering from severe poverty is made possible by extending our service to its greatest capacity while spending with the greatest efficiency.  With the help of your generous donations we have opened 6 HoPE Learning Centers with outstanding successes.  Your angel gifts are miracles in action!

Inspiration in the Classroom

Our classrooms are bright, colorful and stimulating. They are made with durable, cost-effective materials that are easy to maintain. We also put great emphasis on the quality of the teachers and select them based on experience, love and dedication to the children.

Recipe for Success

Healthy food creates the essential energy children need to do well in their work and studies. Our HoPE Learning Centers provide a daily snack of fresh and flavorful dishes prepared by caring women in the local community. This high quality meal only costs $2 per child per month.

Expanding HoPE

Looking ahead, we are excited for new opportunities of growth in 2012 with a goal to open 200 HoPE Centers across India.  Our ambitions are high because the need is so great. Please be a part of this ripple effect and send waves of HoPE into these impoverished communities.
